Armed robbers target Adlington off licence

A heavily pregnant woman underwent a “terrifying” ordeal during an armed robbery at an off licence near Chorley last night.

At 8.20pm officers were called to Bargain Booze on Chorley Road in Adlington.

Two men wearing balaclavas had entered the store carrying a crow-bar and threatened two female staff members and a customer before making off with a quantity of cash.

Nobody was injured although an ambulance was requested to check over one staff member who was heavily pregnant.

Detective Sergeant David Brooks, of Chorley CID, said: “This was a terrifying experience for the people in the shop and although, thankfully, they were physically unharmed, they have been left incredibly shaken after what has happened.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area last night who may have seen any suspicious activity to contact police. I would also like to speak with anybody who may have any information which they think could assist with the investigation.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 08451 25 35 45 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
