A PROVISIONAL trial date has been set for a couple accused of the murder of a man whose burned body was found on playing fields at Adlington.
Philip Stewart, aged 34, and 26-year-old Christen Garden, both of The Avenue, Adlington, are accused of murdering John Bennett, aged 30.
His body was found by a dog walker on playing fields at Highfield Road North, Adlington, on Friday, September 18.
Two others, Kevin Forbes, aged 52 and Alan Barton, aged 55, both of Leyland Lane, Leyland, are accused of assisting an offender. All four were remanded in custody by judge, Mr Justice Irwin, at Preston Crown Court yesterday.
They are expected to enter their pleas at the next hearing on December 22. A trial date has been set for March 1, for a two-week hearing.
