A man and woman have been charged with murder after a badly burned body was found in a field in Adlington.
The remains of John Paul Bennett, 30, were found by a dog walker on land between Highfield Road North and the A6 at around 10am on Friday morning.
Police said a post-mortem examination conducted at the weekend found Mr Bennett had sustained severe blows to the head.
Christen Gardner, 26, and 34-year-old Philip Stewart, both of The Avenue, Adlington were charged with murder on Monday.
They have remained in custody since their arrest.
Kevin Forbes, 52 and 55-year-old Alan Barton, both of Leyland Lane, Leyland have been charged with assisting an offender.
The four are due to appear at Preston Magistrates Court today.
A number of properties, including one on the The Avenue, close to the location where Mr Bennett's body was found, have been searched by police during the murder inquiry.
