Crowds expected to flock to Adlington carnival


Huge crowds are expected for Adlington Carnival, which takes over the streets of the village this weekend.

The carnival takes place on August 14, 15 and16 and includes appearances from Top Gear’s The Stig, Chorley boxer Michael Jennings and Coronation Street’s Michael le Vell.

On Friday in the marquee on the Jubilee Field at 7.30pm there will be monster prize bingo, a glamorous grandmother competition and local talent contest with Kieran’s karaoke.

On Saturday the parade starts 12.30pm and proceeds through the village with events on the field starting at 2.15pm.

Attractions include the Blue Angels cheerleaders, Tom and Tilly Turnip, Warwick Girls Band and the chance to meet Chorley’s own boxing champion Michael Jennings.

There will also be a fancy dress parade and an appearance from Top Gear’s mystery man The Stig.

On Saturday evening in the marquee starting at 8pm there will be a carnival cabaret starring Lovin It, Tony Jo and The Bogtrotters.

On Sunday from noon there will be a car boot sale, farmers’ market., novelty dog show and baby show.

There will be a performance from Curious Eyebrows and Above and Beyond and a chance to meet Michael le Vell.

Admission to Friday night bingo is free, Saturday and Sunday on the field is pay at the gate £3.50 with children under 12 going free.
