Students' support at hospital is celebrated
8:00am Tuesday 18th September 2012 in News
Around 60 people attended an event hosted by the trust which runs Chorley Hospital to celebrate the success of its Patients as Educators Programme.
The programme, which is the first of its kind in the North West, was launched in 2010 to help medical students in the early stages of their professional development to examine and diagnose patients and gain valuable experience of dealing with real-life patient scenarios.
The patient educators are real patients with an ongoing health condition who have received treatment.
Their involvement enables medical students to develop a wide range of skills including communication, history-taking, examination and diagnosis.
Anyone interested in participating in the Patients as Educators programme, should contact Jill Hanslip on 01772 524812.
