County prizes handed out for best-kept villages

Mawdesley has scooped the Lancashire’s Best Kept Village award for a medium village.
Euxton was also highly commended in the large village section of the awards, which were judged during the spring and early summer.
There were 93 entries, and the finals judge was Lord Hoyle of Warrington, father of Chorley MP Lindsay Hoyle.
The awards presentations will be at on October 15 at The Villa, Wrea Green at 2.30pm.
Euxton Park Care Home also won a merit award for the best residential or nursing home.
