5:26pm Wednesday 5th September 2012 in News
Chorley Council has teamed up with the South Ribble Orienteering Club to offer beginners sessions in the sport.
Orienteering can help people learn to navigate round some of Chorley’s most popular beauty spots using a detailed map and a compass.
Coun Bev Murray, who oversees sports activities for Chorley Council, said: “Orienteering is a very popular sport and we’ve organised sessions in the past that have been enjoyed by more than 300 people.
“These new sessions are for complete beginners and are being held throughout September.”
The sessions, which cost £3 each, start on Wednesday September 5, and will be held from 6pm to 7pm each Wednesday throughout the month.
They will be held on:
• September 5 at Yarrow Valley Country Park
• September 12 at Duxbury
• September 19 at Astley Village
• September 26 at Astley Park.
