People are being asked to help raise money to build a garden at a children’s hospice.

The charity Greenfingers is developing the grounds at Derian House Children’s Hospice in Chorley and is raising money with a fundraising week in the area in late September.

Deborah Skillicorn, director of marketing and fundraising at Greenfingers, which creates gardens at children’s hospices around the UK, said: “We are calling on local people to help with fundraising for this extremely worthy local cause.

“We need to raise between £35,000 and £40,000 to create the garden, which is why we are asking people to help us support their community hospice by taking part in Greenfingers Week.

“There are no set fundraising activities for Greenfingers Week, all we are asking is that people organise an event or activity that will help us raise funds for the garden’s creation.”

Greenfingers will work with Derian House Children’s Hospice and the young people who visit to create a new garden that will provide views from the new extension all year round.
