A woman has sustained serious injuries after a ‘brutal assault’ in Chorley.
The attack happened between 9am and 4pm on Tuesday, May 29 between the Pall Mall area and the Liptrott estate in Chorley. A 34-year-old woman suffered serious internal injuries as a result of the attack and is currently being treated in hospital where she remains in a serious but stable condition.
Inspector Jo Keay, from Chorley police, said: “This was a sustained and brutal attack which occurred during daylight hours and as a result could possibly have been witnessed by passing pedestrians or motorists.
“Detectives are currently trying to piece together the full circumstances of the assault and would appeal for anyone with information or who witnessed the attack on Tuesday to come forward. Their enquiries could assist with this enquiry.”
Anyone who has any information on the incident should contact police by calling 101 or alternatively, information can be passed to the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or on-line at Crimestoppers-uk.org.
