Chorley Community Housing has announced details of its gardening competition for 2012.
The Brighter Blooming Chorley competition is open to any resident living on a CCH estate.
The competition has been launched to coincide with National Gardening Week, which aims to get novice gardeners across the country planting for the first time.
Prize money totalling £450 is available in the CCH competition, with a first prize of £50 in each of four categories. Second and third place prizes of £30 and £20 are also available.
There will also be a special prize of best overall garden.
CCH resident involvement assistant Nick Halstead said: “Last year’s competition attracted almost 50 entries from across Chorley making choosing the winners very difficult. With prizes for all
shapes and sizes of garden, there’s no reason why everyone can’t enter.”
Entry to the competition is free.
Categories include individual garden, sheltered scheme garden, communal garden and most creative use of a small space.
Entries have to be submitted by Friday, August 3.
CCH director of operations Richard Houghton said: “I’m delighted that Birkacre Nurseries and Garden Centre have once again agreed to sponsor the competition.”
Application forms can be downloaded from the CCH website.
