The stall holders on the Covered Market will be open for business on extra days and the Chorley Council owned market has been trimmed up with Christmas lights, a tree and decorations adding to the seasonal atmosphere.

Councillor Peter Malpas who oversees the markets for Chorley Council said: “Chorley’s markets are famous for miles around for value for money and the variety of goods on sale at any time of the year, but in the run up to Christmas they really do offer a fantastic shopping experience.

“And this year it’s even better because for the first time there is a Christmas tree at the entrance to the market and decorations and lights have been hung over the walkways inside.

“Those decorations of Christmas wishes and messages of goodwill were made by individuals and community groups and were first paraded round the town centre at the Christmas Lights switch on event before being donated to decorate the market.

“The market will be open additional days over the festive season and there’s the added bonus of free parking after 4pm on all town centre car parks every day up to Christmas Day, so there really is no better time to visit Chorley and its markets for your festive shopping needs.”

The Covered Market will be open every day from Friday, December 17, right through to Christmas Day. It will re-open on the Bank Holiday Tuesday (December 28), it will be closed on Wednesday, December 29 and will be open Thursday and Friday, December 30 and 31, reopening in the New Year on Tuesday, January 4.

The outdoor Flat Iron market will be open on Tuesday, December 21 and Tuesday, January 4.
