MUMS and dads wanting to brush up on their parenting skills can take advantage of free classes being offered by a leading children’s charity.

Lancashire Parenting Service, run by Action for Children, are organising group programmes and one-to-one sessions to families to help ‘improve confidence and strengthen relationships.’ Barbara Bidwell, Action for Children service manager, said: “Completing a parenting course can make a really positive and lasting difference to a family and I would encourage any parent to come along to one of our courses. With parenting there is always something to learn.

“We have a real mixture of people getting involved and the parents find it useful not only to work with members of my team, but to learn and gain support from each other. “ There are three courses of six sessions aimed at different age groups, positive parenting for parents of children aged between four and 11, strengthening families for parents of 10 to 14-year-olds and surviving teenagers.

Positive parenting sessions will take place in Astley and Buckshaw Children’s Centre, Chancery Road, Astley Village, Chorley, every Tuesday starting September 7, from 1pm to 3pm, strengthening families workshops in Albany Science College, Bolton Road, Chorley, every Thursdays starting September 9 from 12pm to 2.30pm and surviving teens in the Intact Centre, Whitby Avenue, Ingol, Preston every Tuesday starting September 7 from 1pm to 3pm.
