A house in Adlington which has received more than 40 visits from police in 12 months has been closed down by police.

The property in Bolton Road had been at the centre of serious nuisance and disorder for over a year and officers were forced to take action.

On Tuesday (August 31) Chorley Magistrates granted a Closure Order, meaning the house will be shut down for six weeks.

Community Beat Manager PC Matt Lee said: “This is a real victory for local residents.

“The neighbourhood policing team has worked tirelessly, compiling statements and gathering evidence against the property, taking a stand for the honest and hard working people whose lives have been blighted by inconsiderate and disruptive anti-social behaviour.

“I am delighted with the result and hope it sends out a clear message that police will not tolerate this type of behaviour and will use all available legislation to take firm action against those involved in serious and persistent anti social behaviour.

“I am extremely grateful to local authority and the local community for helping secure this positive outcome.”

It follows months of evidence gathering by the local policing team, working closely with Chorley Borough Council and local residents about persistent nuisance and disorder. Officers received complaints about loud music, criminal damage, violence and drug taking at the address.

Anybody found entering the property while it is subject to the order could face six months in jail, a fine of up £5,000 or both.
