Call for 'sporty' residents to enter new competition

3:19pm Friday 27th August 2010

SPORTY residents can take part in Chorley’s first ever 50+ games at Clayton Green Sports Centre on Wednesday, September 8.

The event will feature giant jenga, egg and spoon racing and remote control car racing, organised by Chorley Council as part of the Active Generation project.

Councillor John Walker said: “It promises to be a really fun day and I can’t wait to see the competition in full swing. You don’t have to be particularly fit because we won’t have you running round a track but there’ll be lots to try your hand at whatever your ability.”

The event has been organised as part of the build up to International Older People’s Day on October 1, and organisers are looking for teams of between four and six people to enter.

Concillor Walker said: “What we’ve found with the Active Generation scheme is that people are rediscovering old hobbies, making new friends and learning completely new skills.”

To register a team call 01257 515151.
