Man arrested after laying on tracks at Chorley train station

A man lay down on tracks at Chorley railway station minutes before a train was due to arrive.

Police were called to the station at 10.30pm on Sunday after the man’s girlfriend called.

A PCSO attended the scene and found the man lying across the tracks.

A train was due to arrive in the station within three minutes.

The man, who police believe had been drinking, climbed back on to the platform when challenged by police.

A 26-year-old man from Manchester was subsequently arrested by British Transport Police and issued with a £80 fixed penalty fine.
