TWELVE years on from the death of Stephen Lawrence, a jury has given its verdict on the murder of another black teenager, Anthony Walker.
Let us also not forget the brutal killing of Zahid Mubarak by his cell mate at Feltham Young Offenders Institution.
When are we going to act on the racism that is so prevalent in our society?
One thing is clear. Unless all of us challenge racism wherever it occurs and show that it is unacceptable, it will continue to fester.
Whether it's someone we know coming out with an "Irish" joke, or the media stereotyping Muslims.
We have to say loudly and very clearly that it is not acceptable.
Whether we're at work, with friends, wherever we are we must challenge racism and every other form of intolerance, or more innocent people will continue to suffer and die.
DAVID BUNTING, Secretary, Hyndburn Liberal Democrats.
