A HUGE vet's bill for a poorly pooch has left a stray dogs charity cash-strapped.
Hyndburn Stray Dogs in Need is appealing for donations to help pay the £500 bill for treating Staffordshire bull terrier Lulu.
The charity had thought she was pregnant when she came to them, but an X-ray revealed that there were no pups, just a mass of fluid. During an emergency operation local vet Mike Rimmer found dozens of cysts stuck to her womb and other organs, which had to be removed.
The operation was a success and Lulu is recovering well, but the unexpected bill has left the charity struggling.
Donations can be sent to 3 Norden View, Harwood Road, Rishton or paid directly to Town & Country Veterinary Group, Clayton-le-Moors.
The charity would also like to hear from anyone interested in offering Lulu a new home once she has recovered from her operation and can be contacted on 01254 875990.
