TODMORDEN have swooped to sign South African international Morne van Wyk as their paid man next term.
The 26-year-old, who captains state side Free State Eagles, returned his signed contract to the club yesterday and replaces Gyan Pandey who has been signed by Ribblesdale League side Great Harwood.
Van Wyk, pictured, toured with the Proteas two years ago as back up wicket-keeper but played a one-day international against England where he made 17 batting at three at Lord's in the 2003 Natwest Series Challenge final.
But van Wyk is a very capable spinner and Todmorden skipper Stuart Priestley is hoping he can prove to be a big hit at Centre Vale next season.
He said: "He's a top man. We've had some really good reports about him, not only as a person but as a cricketer.
"He's a top batter, a good spinner and a level three coach so he will improve us as a club."
