Billy Davies insists David Nugent will be staying at Deepdale after the striker was linked to a £2m move to Everton in the January transfer window.

The 20-year-old striker has been targeted by several Premiership clubs and as an Everton fan since childhood a move to Goodison Park may tempt the England Under 21 international.

Davies said yesterday, however, that he had no intention of letting Nugent go adding it would be "suicidal" for the club to let him go now, especially after the departure of Richard Cresswell to Leeds earlier this year.

He added that it would take a "huge offer" even for the club to consider a sale.
