ST JOSEPH'S Under 13s had a convincing 6-2 win over Whitworth Valley Wanderers at Wilsons on Saturday.

The Saints opened the scoring early in the game with Rob Trotter finishing neatly from close range. Whitworth equalised soon after, courtesy of some poor defending. However, Hakim Webb restored the lead after being put through by Rob Trotter.

Hakim scored again before Andrew Dowell struck to give the Saints a 4-1 lead at the interval. Whitworth pulled another goal back after more poor defending but Mark Armer put the result beyond doubt scoring with a left foot drive from close range.

Matthew Mugan's persistence presented him with a chance which he converted neatly to complete the scoring. Danny Richardson earned the manager's man of the match for his hard working display down the left with Jonathan Mather earning the referee's vote for a powerful performance at centre half. The Under 15s produced an excellent all-round team performance, beating Darwen Utd 9-3. They were 6-0 up after 30 minutes with two goals each for Ben Pilkington and Lee Demain, and further goals from Carl Williamson and Darren Cronshaw.

Darwen then came back into the game with three quick goals, but St Joseph's regained control of the game with two further goals for referee's man of the match Lee Demain and a penalty from goalkeeper Adam Jarrett.

Darren Cronshaw won the manager's man of the match award with an in influential display in midfield.
