Ajay Devgan turns to the kind of roles we have come to expect of him of late. The challenging ones.

Here he plays, Neel, a man with the mind of a child who is about to face the biggest battle of his life. Neels world is simple. He lives with his seven-year-old daughter and friends in a remote town where everyone knows his name.

His happy go lucky daughter Gungun is a blessing for Neel who no longer has the support of the childs mother, Maya (Esha Deol). We havent a clue what happenened to her but all is revealed.

Into their life enters Gungans grandfather and Mayas father. A rich businessman who finds it despicable that an educationally challenged man should be taking care of his grand-daughter. And so begins a custody battle which sees Neel seeking the help of Lawyer, Neeti Khanna (Sushmita Sen).

The film is based on the Hollywood box-office smash I am Sam which saw Sean Penn pick up an Oscar for his role as the father.

Many a time when Bollywood tries to emulate its Western Counterparts they end up with very lasklustre and badly made films.

However, in Main Aisa Hi Hoon Ajay Devgan is well supported by an accomplished cast to make this film quite enjoyable and interesting.

Main Aisa Hi Hoon stars: Ajay Devgan, Esha Deol, Sushmita Sen and Rucha Vaidya and is directed by: Harry Baweja
