Solicitors for two people behind a Chorley-based company given an enforcement order by Preston County Court have said they intend to challenge the decision.
Brothers Gourmeaj and Gourmit Singh have operated from a garage at 2 Blackburn Street, Chorley, under various company names, including Global Parts (UK) Ltd, 1st Parts 4 U, KSR Parts (UK) and most recently European Salvage Ltd.
The companies sell second hand car parts through adverts placed in directories such as Yellow Pages and Thompson Local. They also advertise on the eBay website.
Lancashire Trading Standards said they had received more than 350 complaints, adding up to a value of more than £182,350.
The county court enforcement order requiring the companies to trade within the law was gained by Lancashire Trading Standards under powers in the Enterprise Act 2002.
A spokesman for Kevill’s solicitor’s, who represent the brothers, said: “The matters brought to the intention of the court by Lancashire trading standards are very much disputed... and each and every one of the claims pursued by consumers have been defended and disputed.
“An application to set aside the order has been submitted.”
The statement added that neither of the brothers had been able to attend court on the day of the order hearing ‘for personal reasons’.
