A giant Magical Mystery Corn Maze has spring up on an eight acre site at Hawkshaw Farm Park, home to Mrs Dowson’s Ice Cream, on the A59, Clayton-le-Dale, Blackburn, in time for the summer season.

Children and families can have bags of fun crisscrossing around the 8ft crop where there are plenty of wrong turns and dead ends to keep curious young minds amused.

Young children can enjoy a witch quiz game with clues to be found inside the maze while older youngsters will be put the test with an educational game designed to challenge the mind.

Amanda Dowson said: “This is the third year we have grown a maze and it is always popular with lots of families looking for great, local day out, in the fresh air of the beautiful Ribble Valley countryside.

“Let’s hope the summer is kind to us and we see lots people this year.”

Visit the animals in the farm’s children’s pet area where youngsters can bottle feed the baby lambs and stroke the fluffy rabbits and guinea pigs.

As well as lots of small animals including ducks the farm has a friendly retired cow called Mickey who loves to meet new children.

And in the new purpose-built learning centre there are loads of children’s toys and books to enjoy as well as comfortable seating where adults can relax after a fun-filled day.

Afternoon tea is available as well as home-baked meats on freshly prepared on sandwiches which are made.

Visitors can sample the famous flavours of Mrs Dowson’s real dairy ice cream including blackcurrant, chunky chocolate and caramel to name but a few.

Mrs Dowson added: “Everyone who comes to the farm loves to hold the rabbits and the other animals in our children’s pet area where our lambs are bottled fed once a day.

“Our famous ice cream is absolutely delicious, why not come down and see and let us know what your favourite is?”

The farm is open daily from 10am-6pm throughout the summer and weekends.

No booking is required, just turn up with all the family and enjoy a fun day out.

Wellies and waterproof coats are advised if it rains and only guide dogs are allowed on the farm.
