IT workers from Chorley Hospital have been doing the 24 hour three peaks challenge across three different countries for cancer patients from across Lancashire.
The workers climbed Ben Nevis, Scawfell Pike and Snowdon in under 24 hours on Saturday, June 27.
Stuart Norcross, Bryan Mycroft, Bill McCann and Tony Wilson completed the challenge, walking and driving it in 23 hours and 12 minutes, while Ian Clarkson drove a support car. They have collectively raised over £1,200 for the Rosemere Cancer Foundation and spent a total of 10 hours driving, with Ben Nevis taking just under five hours, Scar Fell nearly four hours and Snowdon just over four hours.
Stuart Norcross, said: “We were very pleased to do this for Rosemere as it’s an important cause.
"The last time I did the three peaks challenge I was 19 years old, so it was a bit harder this time. We managed to do it in good time though with over 45 minutes to spare, although we were all really quite tired by the end.”
Dennis Benson, Chairman, Rosemere Cancer Foundation, said: “I would like to congratulate Stuart and his colleagues on their efforts. It sounds like a very tough challenge and they have raised quite a lot of money. The money they have raised will help in the treatment of cancer patients from across Lancashire and South Cumbria.”
