A car parking scheme got underway this week as a housing association takes the first step towards a promise to provide almost 1,000 car parking spaces on its estates.
The £70,000 project to provide 19 new car parking spaces on Eaves Green Road, Chorley, is being carried out by Bullock Construction Limited and Arcus Consulting on behalf of Chorley Community Housing,(CCH).
Morna Maines, project manager for Adactus Housing Group, is overseeing the scheme.
Morna said: "This scheme is a milestone because it represents the first 19 of a total of 985 car parking spaces that CCH has agreed to provide for residents. "We’re just putting together the final details of a rolling programme that will see hard standings provided in the front gardens of residents’ homes across Chorley and in surrounding villages."
Leanne Atkinson, resident liaison officer for Bullock, said: "The work at Eaves Green Road will take up to eight weeks and there will be some disruption for residents during this period. "However, we know that this is a scheme that people in the area have been anticipating for some time and so we hope that people will bear with us while the work is carried out."
