A man has been arrested as police investigate reports of an assault in Lytham St Annes.

Police were called to Moss Side Station, following reports of a disturbance on a train.

A passenger reportedly “punched the train driver multiple times” and “assaulted the train conductor”.

According to the British Transport Police, the passenger then stood on the track to prevent the train moving.

A 34-year-old man was arrested and charged on suspicion of assault, a public order offence and railway trespass.

He has also been recalled to prison.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police “We received an emergency call to Moss Side Station, Lytham St Annes, following a disturbance on a train.

“A passenger had reportedly punched the train driver multiple times, assaulted the train conductor, then [reportedly] stood on the track preventing the train moving.

“On our arrival we arrested a 34-year old male [on suspicion of] assault, a public order offence and railway trespass.

“He has been charged with all these offences. He has also been immediately recalled to prison.”
