Police closed off a road due to a bomb scare today.
Blackburn Road, close to the Dunkenhalgh Hotel in Clayton-le-Moors, was closed by police earlier today (Tuesday, April 25), after they received reports of a bomb threat at a building on Clayton Business Park.
At the height of the incident several police vehicles and the bomb squad were on scene, and traffic was being diverted.
It is believed the road was closed for a couple of hours from close to junction seven of the M65 up to the Hare and Hounds pub on Blackburn Road.
A spokesperson for the police said: "We were called at 11.17am today to a report of a bomb threat at a building on Clayton Business Park, Clayton-le-Moors, Accrington.
"The building was evacuated, with a cordon and road closures put in place.
"We investigated and found that the threat was not credible.
"The building and surrounding roads have been reopened."
