Police have arrested two teenagers after a man was stabbed in the head.

The man, in his 20s, has suffered injuries after he was stabbed in the head in Leyland on Friday (April 21).

The attack took place at around 7.30pm near to the Spar shop on Leyland Lane. The victim was found with serious head and body injuries and was taken to hospital.

On Saturday (April 22), an 18-year-old man from Leyland was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder where he remains in custody for questioning.

Police have made a second attempted murder arrest today (April 24) as a 16-year-old boy from Bootle also remains in custody.

A spokesperson for the police said: “We were called to Leyland Lane, Leyland, at 7.38pm on Friday (April 21) to reports of a stabbing.

"Emergency services have attended and found a man in his 20s with injuries to the head and body. He has been taken to hospital where his condition is described as serious.

"An 18-year-old man from Leyland and a 16-year-old boy from Bootle have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remain in custody.

"This is being treated as an isolated incident."
