PUPILS at St Antony’s celebrated the school’s annual sportsday this week, where a variety of activities took place and fun was had by all.

There were team events, where the children competed together in groups to earn points, as well as the more traditional races.

Individual events saw pupils be in with a chance to show off their sporting skills as they competed solely for points.

Parents were also invited into the school and were given the opportunity to sit back and watch their children compete, enjoying light refreshments such as strawberries in the warm weather.

Residents of Linden House were also there to watch the sports, and the school choir performed classic First World War sing-alongs for everybody to enjoy.

Sport is a vital part of education at the school and is something that is continually celebrated and encouraged.

A new community hub, which will be officially opened in June, will allow the school to promote fitness and healthy lifestyles to families, as well as inviting them to participate in fun, engaging activities.

Mr Douglas said: “Sports, health, and fitness is something we take seriously at St Antony’s and our new community hub will officially open in June during our ‘Live Well’ week.

“By September, family fitness and healthy cookery classes will be available through the hub.”
