MORE than £200k is to be invested in a Chorley nightclub.

The North West’s newest and biggest nightclub brand, Switch, has confirmed it will invest in a new two-room nightclub in the former Applejax building on Back Mount Street, Chorley.

The venue, called Myst, will open in July and offer a state-of-the-art clubbing and bar experience over two rooms.

Three local entrepreneurs, Darren Ofsarnie, Haydn Price and Francis Falodun, have spent the last two months completing extensive market research in and around Lancashire and concluded that Chorley would be the ideal location to launch their Myst brand.

The move comes after the success of Switch Preston which launched on August bank holiday weekend last year and, even more recently, Switch Blackburn opened its doors in February. Currently popular acts and PAs perform at both venues on a weekly basis.

Myst Chorley will follow a similar format in bringing first class entertainment and a very unique concept to Chorley.

The venue will be fitted with the latest festival style lighting and sound, along with special effects and custom built VIP booth areas available to book to enhance the experience of the customers night out.

The former AJs nightclub will undergo a refurbishment programme to transform the nightclub into a modern twin roomed bar and club, reopening in time for the summer under the new name Myst.

Darren Ofsarnie, Managing Director for Switch Leisure, says “I started out as a DJ and Promoter at Applejax in Chorley almost 10 years ago.

“The venue holds a special place in my heart as it is where it all began for me.

“It’s great to have been given the opportunity from the Smith family to take over the reins and continue forward with a brand new nightclub in Chorley which will hopefully be here for many years to come.

“Myst is a new nightclub concept we have been working on for the last six months and we cant wait to launch the brand in Chorley.”

Last week the Citizen reported how Applejax will be holding one last party this Saturday before it closes.
