A MAN has been arrested after a decapitated dog's head was found on a door handle.
Police officers were called to Great Meadow in Chorley after a Yorkshire Terrier's head was found on the door handle of a house.
The dog was believed to be aged between five and seven years, the body is still yet to be found.
A police spokesman said: "This was extremely distressing for the occupant who found the dog.
"Following extensive enquiries a 26-year-old man from Lancaster was arrested on suspicion of burglary and animal destruction yesterday.
"He has since been bailed to June 20, pending further enquiries.
"We are continuing to appeal to anyone with any information to contact us."
