A PENSIONER is in a serious condition following a collision with a cyclist.

Emergency services were called to Cowling Brow, near to the Prince of Wales Pub, Chorley shortly after 6.30pm yesterday.

A police spokesman said the cyclist, 27, had been travelling along the road and a woman, 88, walking when the collision occurred.

The woman hit the ground and sustained head, chest and pelvic injuries and remains in a serious condition at Royal Preston Hospital the spokesman said.

The road was closed for three hours while an investigation was carried out and a witness appeal has been launched.

Sgt Phil Baxendale said: “We need any witnesses to come forward and speak to us.

"You could have important information that could assist with our enquiries.”
