THE 100-day countdown to the opening of the Inspire Youth Zone in Chorley has begun.

Pupils at Holy Cross Catholic High School celebrated the launch of the countdown to opening on May 5 as they learnt more about what the Youth Zone will offer Chorley’s young people.

Students were thrilled to discover that the £4.8million facility, which is located on Chapel Street, will include a 3G kick pitch, dance studio, fully equipped gym and sports hall – offering 20 activities for just 50p per visit.

It is run in partnership with Chorley Council, Lancashire County Council, The Arts Partnership and OnSide Youth Zones. Janine Blythe, Inspire Youth Zone chief executive said: “I’d like to thank all of our supporters and Founder Patrons who have made Inspire Youth Zone possible – it promises to be an inspirational place that will transform the lives of young people.”

County Cllr Susie Charles said: “ I’m really looking forward to seeing the new Chorley Inspire Youth Zone open.

“Once open, the Youth Zone will provide an important service that will give thousands of young people from Chorley and the surrounding areas with the opportunity to try new activities, get active and develop their skills.”

Cllr Alistair Bradley, Chorley Council leader, said: “I’m really looking forward to seeing the youth zone open.

“It’s been exciting seeing it being built and it will give our younger generation a wide variety of engaging activities to take part in, 7 days per week. Inspire Youth Zone is a world-class facility that will transform youth provision within the borough, a project that we are proud to support.”
