A PRIMARY school has closed for the day due to a heating failure.
Children at Wensley Fold Primary School, Blackburn, have been sent home after a boiler broke down at 11am today.
It meant that the 420-pupil school on Manor Road was left with no heating or facility to cook lunches for children.
Engineers are currently at the school fixing the fault.
Bosses at the school said it is expected to be open as normal tomorrow.
Sue Blackwell, business manager at the school, said: "The boiler broke down at about 11am this morning which meant the school had no heating or facility to cook school lunches.
"So the gas had to be switched off.
"All the pupils at the school have been sent home for the day.
"We've liaised with the local authority who brought in someone from Lancashire Gas Services who is fixing the fault.
"The school should be open as normal tomorrow."
