A CHORLEY woman is a contender to become the face of a sports nutrition brand.

Lucy Davis, 21, is on the six-strong shortlist to become the next “Face of USN”.

The leading sports nutrition brand launched a nationwide campaign to find the next male and female “Face of USN” at the beginning of October, and the shortlist has now been whittled down to just six females and males, with an additional entrant to be added each week up until the December 1 deadline.

Having formerly competed for England as a swimmer, Lucy had to follow a gruelling training schedule that saw her train nine times a week, but after a disappointing experience in the British Championships back in 2015, she decided to focus her efforts away from the pool.

So she switched to weightlifting, only to suffer a torn cartilage within two weeks of starting her new fitness regime.

But having barely dipped a toe into fitness she had to undergo knee surgery, but was determined not to give up.

She said: “My knee surgery was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to overcome mentally. I couldn’t train at all for four or five months and I hated it!”

Eventually ditching her crutches, Lucy has now achieved quite the transformation, and has her own Instagram (@lucydavis_fit) and YouTube channel’s (Lucy Davis Fitness) that have amassed some 28,000 and 20,000 followers respectively.

She added: “I loved my physique before my body transformation; it was very athletic but in a different way to what it is now. I did feel very tiny in comparison to some of the other swimmers however, and wanted to put more size on, hence the transition to weightlifting!”

Having set out her stall as a genuine contender to become the next “Face of USN”, Lucy will have to wait until to December to find out if she’s won.
