FORMER international cricketer, Ronni Irani, returned to his roots for a lad and dad ‘big shop’ at Bolton Market.

The ex Lancashire and England all-rounder accompanied his father, Jimmy, on a trip around stalls on Tuesday, documenting his outing with pictures of stallholders on Twitter.

Yesterday, Ronni tweeted: “Just arrived in Bolton for big day tomorrow, dad and lad! We’ll be off to Bolton Market for a ‘Big Food Shop!’

He later praised the market for its ‘unbeatable quality of fresh food and incredible prices'.

Bolton Market manager Peter Entwistle said: “We know just how fabulous Bolton Market is - our produce is affordable, fresh and great quality.

“Over the years we have had celebrities including the Hairy Bikers, Paul Hollywood, Angela Rippon, David Hasselhoff and Simon Rimmer praising the market.

“And we are delighted to now add the seal of approval from one of England’s cricketing greats.

“Ronnie came to the market with his dad, who lives in Bolton. His parents are loyal market customers who do a big shop here every week.

“They visited a number of traders including MPJ for their fish and Grundys for fruit and veg.

“Ronnie and his dad were a hit with the traders and we look forward to welcoming them back.”
