POLICE may be used to sorting out unruly behaviour...but not from a herd of cows.

Lancashire Road Police thought it was a joke when they were called to deal with runaway cattle, who had broken out of a nearby field and descended on Rivington Service Station near Chorley.

Motorists stopping for fuel on Wednesday night could barely believe their owns as the cows queued up on the forecourt near to the cash point.

Taking to Twitter, Lancashire Road Police team, tweeted: "Unruly herd 'milking the cash machine @rivington services...is this what you call a cash cow?

"They followed it up with '@NWmwaypolice Trying to get this lot to moooooooove'."

After milking the joke the officers contacted the farmer and got the cows back to the field.
