CHORLEY FC suffered extra-time heartache after going down 2-1 to FC Halifax Town in the Vanarama Conference North.

There were plenty of emotions after the final whistle as Matt Jansen's side put their all into trying to round off their season with joy.

Despite the disappointment of losing the Magpies can hold their head high at their never-say-die spirit during the game.

Spurred on by 1,941 visiting fans the Magpies got back into the game with a superb free-kick by Adam Blakeman which brought them back level on the hour mark.

The hosts had taken the lead just after half time through Kevin Roberts.

In extra-time Chorley continued to carve out chances but it was the home side that took the lead again when Scott Garner flicked the ball past Branagan.

The visitors showed patient build-up play despite tiring legs but they will feel a few more decision could have gone their way during the game.

Jansen's side threw the kitchen sink at their opponents and their best chance at the death fell to goalkeeper Branagan but his acrobatic volley sailed over the bar.

Chorley fans stayed behind to chants of "We love you Chorley, we do," and they could fault the efforts of their side.
