A BANK in Adlington is to scale down its hours and only open for three days per week.
The cut in opening hours will affect the the RBS Adlington branch from June 5.
Andrew Watt, from RBS, said: "We will be writing to our customers who use the branch in advance of the changes to opening hours and we will also display posters in the branch in the run up to the changes.
"Between now and the June 5, we will engage with our customers, local businesses and the local community to make sure they are aware of the changes we are making and the alternative ways in which they can access banking services as well as to answer any questions."
The new opening hours for the Adlington branch will be Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 10amd and 4pm.
Mr Watt Added: "This is because customers are increasingly using alternative ways to bank with us, such as online and mobile banking.
"As a result, branch transactions have fallen 46 per cent since 2010 whilst online and mobile transactions have grown by 400 per cent.
"Only 9 per cent of total transactions are now undertaken in branches compared to 25 per cent in 2010.
"There will continue to be a number of alternative ways for people to continue to bank with us."
The nearest other RBS branch is Chorley, 3.8 miles away.
RBS have also reached an agreement with the local Post Office, which 100 metres away from the branch so that customers can pay money in, take money out, check their balance and get business coinage.
