“I’ve seen the same thing with parents pushing prams and pushchairs

“I just had to speak out because all I see is an accident waiting to happen.”

A volunteer from nearby Accrington Road Community Centre said the issue is putting off over-50s regularly attending the centre.

She said: “Over the past few months we’ve had numerous complaints about access on Carluke Street.

“Our over-50s club is badly affected, so many people have said it puts them off coming.

“The same complaints have also come from our mother and baby and youth groups.

“The parking situation means having to go into the road and that’s simply not safe.”

A spokesman for Blackburn with Darwen Council, said: “The council will be is sending parking inspectors to assess the situation.

“There are no lines on the road but some dropped kerbs which are able to be enforced and would help with access.

“An inspection of the cars on the street will also take place.”
