A FAMILY whose beloved dog went missing almost a year ago are not giving up hope of bringing her home.

On Tuesday, it will be exactly 12 months since Izzy, a sandy coloured cockerpoo, disappeared from the Barratt estate in Outwood Road, Radcliffe, after builders let themselves into Ian and Dawn Purvis’ property.

The couple and daughters Lauren and Eve, aged 14 and nine, have since enlisted the help of thousands of supporters to launch a nationwide search and have offered a £3,000 reward for her safe return.

A Facebook page dedicated to sharing information about Izzy's whereabouts has more than 8,000 likes and a YouTube video on her story has been viewed almost 10,000 times.

Mr Purvis, aged 45, says the campaign is continuing and that a new law mandating that all dogs are microchipped from April is giving owners across the country improved hopes of reuniting with their missing pets.

He said: "Things have been a little bit quieter lately, just because there aren't as many dog events as there are during the summer, but the Facebook group is still very active.

"We were involved in a charity calendar recently which had pictures of dogs from across the country who have been missing for a long time, and that sold about 300 copies.

"With the new law coming in, we are seeing a lot more dogs being reunited with their owners. It's going to help a lot of people.

"We will keep going and keep believing that Izzy will come home, and we are really grateful for the huge amount of support we have had.

"Through this campaign we have heard plenty of stories of animals coming home after four or five years sometimes, so that gives us a lot to be positive about."

Izzy was wearing a pink collar when she disappeared and is microchipped.
