POLICE officers were threatened with an axe before a stand-off at a house in Padiham.
Officers said that the situation became such that they vacated the area and monitored exits to the house until specialist negotiators arrived.

A police spokesman, said: "At shortly before 5am this morning police attended an address on St Leonards Street, Padiham to make an arrest.
"Upon their arrival, a man inside the address threatened officers with an axe.
"Officers withdrew from the scene and negotiators attended.
"At around 7.30am a 65-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill and is currently in custody."
