At just six weeks old, Rosanna was diagnosed with a rare heart condition and required open-heart surgery.

As part of her rehabilitation, Rosanna was encouraged to get into the pool and since then she has gone from strength to strength.

Rosanna began swimming lessons in February 2015 and in just five months reached ASA Stage 3 and had become proficient in all four strokes.

This year, Rosanna has also completed her first mile swim and as she grows in ability, confidence and strength, she is hoping to inspire others as she takes on many more challenges.

Rosanna’s mother, Sanam Ogden, said: “After all Rosanna’s achievements over the past year, I am delighted that she has won this award.

“At the beginning of the year, she swam a mile and then she went on to swim 2km at her own charity swim at the David Lloyd gym in Chorley, raising £6,500 for Heart Research UK.”

Split into 19 categories, the awards honoured the commitment and achievements of individuals, facilities and schools involved in aquatics.

The awards were presented by British diver and Commonwealth bronze medallist in the 3m Synchro, Freddie Woodward.

He said: “I’m honoured to have been asked to present these awards.

“The achievement and dedication of all the finalists is amazing and I am very pleased to have been part of this very special event.”
