FASHION internet giant Boohoo is set to expand further in Burnley by taking over the former Ultra-Finishing premises.

The web firm has purchased the former Ultra Finishing site in Widow Hill Road, which is set to close.

Boohoo has recently completed a massive warehouse extension and is recruiting more staff to bring the workforce in the town up to around 1,000.

The fashion retail company was set up in 2006 with Carol Kane and business partner Mahmud Kamani at the helm.

Since its creation the brand, which sells clothes online for the 16-25 market, has become one of the fastest growing international retailers.

It aims to provide ‘cutting-edge design with affordable prices’.

Over the past 18 months the firm’s Heasandford Industrial Estate premises has doubled in size with the newly announced further capacity set to bring more jobs to the town.

A spokesman for Boohoo said: “Our commitment to Burnley is further demonstrated by this latest property acquisition.

“Expect further details shortly.”

The firm is currently recruiting for both warehouse and customer services staff .

The news is a major positive for the town after Ultra-Finishing, a company founded in Burnley, announced it was moving 85 staff out of the town last month.

It will transfer 75 office and 10 production staff to sites in Bolton and Halifax by January 2016.

The company said there would be no redundancies as a result of the changes.

Ultra Finishing said it had offered reduced working hours and a pay increase to offset the additional time and cost of travelling the 18 miles to Halifax or 20 miles to Bolton.
