Matthew was also involved with music projects at the Chorley Community Centre and worked as a guitar technician for Scottish rock band Twin Atlantic.

After Matthew, who was from the town, died suddenly on January 1 this year his family and friends organised charitable donations of musical instruments to Lancashire schools and campaigned for other causes.

Matthew was also a keen footballer and a tournament was organised at the weekend in his honour.

Matthew’s brother Martin played alongside the four remaining members of the band Failsafe.

Martin said: “The tournament was a great success and a real tribute to Matt who was a sporting enthusiast as well as a talented musician .”

The winning team was Goldmember FC who beat IML CF 4-0 in the final.
