A SINGER, who has performed at the Glastonbury Festival is making comeback to the music scene with a new album, single and animated music video.

Natasha Lea Jones, who has lived close to Darwen town centre for 15 years, took a truly modern approach to music making.

She collaborated with other musicians without meeting them, via the internet.

Natasha found fame with music duo Pooka in the 1990s and was signed by major record labels including Warner Brothers and Island Records.

She received much critical acclaim for her writing talents and performed on the same bill at Glastonbury as Orbital, Everything But the Girl, The Levellers and Divine Comedy.

Natasha, a former art and theatre studies student said she thinks Darwen is ‘a truly musical town’ and is proud of its popular May Festival and array of small venues.

Her next release will be a single and music video, which is the result of an online collaboration with international talent from Egypt, Italy and the USA.

The single, Come to Call from Natasha’s new album Soar, features singer Graham Bonnet of the band Rainbow, who is based in Hollywood, and guitar player Ricardo Costa from Italy, son of Alberto Costa of the Darwen based band The Beethovens.

The animated music video was written and directed by Egyptian film-maker, Alzamkhshary Awad who is hoping that his work will reach a global audience.

The project, which has taken four years to come to fruition has been a labour of love for Natasha, who wanted to produce something completely unique.

She said: “I have worked in the music industry for a long time but I have never embarked on such an exciting project before.

“The internet and social media channels, such as Facebook, have made it possible for me to work independently with some very talented people around the world – that would have not been possible 10 years ago.

“I made the initial approaches via Facebook and eventually met people in person. “Once everything was agreed all of the work was done virtually, talking on Skype and sending files via the internet.

“I’m so excited to see it all come together at long last. Now that the hard work is done I hope that people across the world will watch, listen and enjoy.”

The international premiere of the Come to Call music video is on YouTube on Sunday, June 14 at 6pm.
