WITH the weather improving there are numerous events for families to enjoy in the area this weekend.

Members of the Rotary Club of Ribblesdale have organised a Ribble Valley Pub Walk.

It will take place at 10am on Saturday starting with registration at the Foxfields Hotel in Billington.

The 10-mile route takes in pubs along the way, but for those who would prefer a shorter route, there is a five-mile option.

Accrington Food and Drink Festival is on Saturday at various locations.

5,000 visitors are expected to create a party atmosphere with plenty to taste, sip, see from a range of food and drink producers.

Barnardo’s Big Toddle is 11am starting at Witton Park Pavilion, Blackburn.

There will be a pirate fancy dress theme for the under-fives.

People are urged to line the streets of Chorley on Saturday to watch soldiers from the 3 Medical Regiment march in honour of being awarded the Freedom of the Borough.

The day will begin with a special council meeting, followed by a service at St Laurence’s Church.

The full Regiment will then form up on St Thomas’s Square at 11am before marching along St Thomas’s Road, Market Street, Chapel Street, New Market Street and High Street.

The town’s carnival also takes place with a parade through the town and events in Astley Park.

The Friends of Roe Lee Park are also hosting a Big Lunch on Saturday from 11am until 2.30pm with food, drinks, entertainment and music.
