No further details about the allegations have emerged but the commissioning body for the GP surgery, NHS England, confirmed he was ‘suspended from practice’.

They added measures have been put in place at the practice ‘to ensure patient services are not affected’.

Dr Gale qualified with a medical degree in 1982 before completing his General Practitioner training in 1986.

He has worked at the Chorley Health Centre practice since 1986.

The doctors’ surgery website states he is ‘a committed member of Living Waters Church and his hobbies include walking and cycling’.

The website also lists a second GP at the practice, Dr Carlos Irizar, along with a staff of two nurses and seven administration staff.

A spokesperson for NHS England, Lancashire said: “We are aware a Lancashire GP has been suspended from practice while GMC investigations are ongoing. We are supporting the practice to ensure patients are not affected.”

The Gale/Carlos surgery did not respond to requests for comment.
