The Sparrowhawk, Fence

4 stars

“I visited on a busy Saturday evening. This place seems to get busier and busier, always a good sign. The food is consistently well above expectations.

A superb wine list, particularly the reds. The real Ales are a credit. I tried three new ones to start with, served as a "flight".

Staff are, in my opinion, the best locally with a cheerful welcoming attitude along with good knowledge. I was informed of a new menu again in the very near future.

Oh and the place still has old quirky character. Well done to all.”

Alma Inn, Laneshawbridge

4.5 stars

“The Alma Inn is a stunning example of what can be achieved through hardwork and dedication to the local area.

The location is beautiful, the food is sourced locally, and the beers are traditional, becoming the in place, the feeling after visiting is all good and you will tell your friends, I promise.

Great wedding venue or maybe a treat with loved ones.

Excellent.”

Nino’s. The Fighting Cocks Inn, Burnley

4 stars

“Great food, great service. Will be back again, for sure!

After our meal we had a fantastic sing along with the superbly eccentric piano player who didn’t fail in knowing even one request of ours. He's brilliant and we hope he's still there next time we go.

10 out of 10.”

Kettledrum Inn, Burnley

4.5 stars

The Kettledrum is a wonderful Country Inn situated on the edge of the Pennines in a lovely Parish called Cliviger approximately 3 miles from Burnley Centre heading towards the Yorkshire towns of Todmorden and Hebden Bridge.

Excellent beers from Micro Breweries and National Brewers.

Wonderful home cooked and prepared food to suit all tastes, the staff are excellent with cleanliness, service and attention to detail top class.

If in the area, why not call. Ideal for trekking, cycling, walking, or just touring.

Usha, Burnley

4 stars

“Usha was my weekly curry stop whilst working in the Burnley area over the last couple of months.

Nice clean and comfortable dining room, with a good range of standard Indian dishes and house specials.

Certainly the best Indian restaurant I came across in the area.”

The Red Lantern, Burnley

4.5 stars

“I ate at The Red Lantern and our meal completely exceeded our expectations.

We chose half a dozen courses that included tempura prawns, crispy duck and a first for me, the seafood triangles.

It was all incredible, cooked to perfection and left me wanting more.

The seafood triangles were melt in the mouth amazing.

My only wish is that other Chinese restaurants have this dish. I look forward to returning again if I'm ever in the area and sampling a few more of my favourites.”

New Waggoners, Burnley

4 stars

“Visited the New Waggoners for our tea today and can report the food and service was brilliant, make sure you're hungry because you get a lot and it's very hot.

We ordered the cheese and onion pie and the jerk chicken panini, there were plenty of chips and curly fries, way too much for two of us to finish off, so you'll have to take some home.

We also had the onion rings, which to be honest were the best I've ever had and were massive, didn't know they made onions that big.

Therefore I would very much recommend the New Waggoners for a lovely, hot, plentiful meal.”

Bertram’s, Burnley

4.5 stars

“What a fantastic night at Bertram's, couldn't fault a thing. Drink was good, food was so tasty and the cocktails Devine.

I would highly recommend a visit to Bertram's, the service was second to none.

The surroundings are exquisite and great value for money.

I had the duck which so succulent and melted in your mouth with the taste was just amazing.

The live entertainment gave the surrounds a great feel.”

Pendle Inn, Barley

4 stars

“If you are looking for home cooked traditional English pub grub then look no further as this is the place to go.

After walking around Pendle Hill, myself, my partner and the in-laws had certainly worked up an appetite.

I thought I would go all out and have a starter, main and sweet (naughty). To start I had chicken goujons with a sweet and spicy dip, for my main I had a trio of sausages (all different flavours) with mash and veg and to finish (rather greedily) I had a sticky toffee pudding. All 3 meals were beautiful and I could not find fault.

The portion sizes are rather large but I like to go home feeling full and satisfied and this certainly did the job.

The pub welcomes dogs which is a bonus and is always warm and cosy with friendly staff. There is also a good choice of beer which also goes down well.

I love coming here..... Keep up the good work!”
