A MURDER investigation is underway following the deaths of a woman and toddler in Chorley.

Lancashire police said they are not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident after the discovery of the woman and small child yesterday.

Around 6.55pm on Wednesday, officers were called to an address on Princess Way, Euxton.

On arrival they found a 26-year-old woman and a 22-month-old boy dead within the premises.

Post mortem examinations to establish the causes of death will be carried out in due course.

Detective Superintendent Eddie Thistlethwaite, who is leading the investigation, said: “This is a tragic case; it is being treated as a murder inquiry, although we are not looking for anybody else in connection with this incident.

“We are still in the very early stages of this investigation, but we are conducting a number of enquiries in order to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the deaths.”
